And the two towers that comprise our resort, Mandalay Bay and W Las Vegas, are both strongly committed to being socially responsible and lessening our impact on the planet. Mandalay Bay Convention Resort GREEN
Mandalay Bay Convention Center (MBCC) and UBM have partnered to co-develop a new LED lighting system. The multi-million-dollar investment includes the replacement of more than 1,600 light fixtures with new LED lights which will not only increase the brightness in the MBCC exhibit halls, but also reduce energy usage by up to 85%. Through the utilization of advanced lighting control technology, MBCC is able to provide better and brighter lighting capacity while operating smarter and using less energy.
• The new LED lighting system is estimated to reduce energy consumption by up to 85%. This amount of projected energy savings could power all of Mandalay Bay for nearly five days and will prevent 900 metric tons of greenhouse gas (CO2E) emissions each year.
• The advanced controls included in the system enable full customization of each of the more than 1,600 LED lights, including varying lighting levels of each individual unit as appropriate. This level of control across multiple large exhibit halls allows MBCC to operate the space as a smart, highly energy efficient facility.
• Within the ten-year project life of the new LED lighting system, MBCC will avoid the need to manufacture, package, and transport 26,898 of the previous individual linear fluorescent lamps. This number of linear fluorescent lamps, if laid end-to-end, would stretch for more than twenty miles.
